My advice is to do that on a symbol-by-symbol basis.
Fixing the graphics can be a little trickier.
It will address all of the drawings in a library at one time, although that means the command can take a LONG TIME to run, depending on the size of the symbol library and how many things are getting fixed per file. But, my assumption would be that the same lack of attention that went into the PNEU symbols, went into the HYD symbols as well.įixing disproportionate TAG and DESC sizes is pretty easy using the 'Modify Symbol Library' tool. I've never used the hydraulic symbols, I can't really offer any insight there. One part number = one symbol, rather than one part number being, for example, three flow path symbols and two operator symbols. So I started making mine on an as-needed basis, part number by part number. To me this was just overkill, and it made assigning the catalog numbers pretty ridiculous. While this seems a good idea, it's not well executed. Also, it's set up so you can create a valve configuration on the fly, by choosing every aspect of the symbology, right down to the operator. As you noted, they lack consistency and sometimes are not drawn correctly. I quickly abandoned them and began to make all of my symbols from scratch. When I started using the pneumatic ACADE libraries, I noticed all the same things you did. Basically, that it's up to us as users to ensure that our symbology is correct, and there are tools in the software to help us do that. While no one has come out and said so, my guess is they think it's unnecessary since we have the ability to modify symbols on our own. I would be willing to wager that whoever made those symbols, way back when, didn't know as much about what they were doing as they should have. For the most part, these things haven't received much attention in more than a decade. Don't hold your breath on Autodesk updating the libraries or symbology any time soon.
